Good as a White Magician vs. Bad as a Dark Magician
Good Grief! Take your pick
Good, Bad, Ugly. Whatever. Anyone can be confused, and may ask us if they are. Let us then consider this topic. Because we live in a time of competing spiritual schools of thought. Competing in the sense of belief in and focus on either Light alone, or belief in Light with an emphasis on ourselves and others (as Light’s expressions) being constantly under attack by evil forces. Or if not then potentially so.
Competing and intermingling with the spiritual fare of the day (and its subtle nuances of old-school ‘karma-fundamentalism’) is the outright fear-mongering in the news. Not unlike George Orwell describes in his novel, Nineteen Eighty Four, as the infamous ‘two minutes of hate’, we have much of the so-called ‘alt news’ (not all) that is clearly designed to be far-fetched enough to deflect the seeker from further investigation. It’s as guilty as the mainstream of deserving the label, “fake news.”
Both ends of the spectrum tend to block the light of true reporting. Reporting by independents who work not from a script given them but through asking the tough questions. We have the same responsibility of discerning which alternative spirituality path to follow, if that is our aim.
Here is one such mindset to take note of in selecting what we might partake from any quarter
Whether we seek information or inspiration, we can pause to notice what is delivered. Whether the ‘mystery-school’ or the independent news channel has an overemphasis on the ‘inevitability’ of evil.
Here’s an idea for broadcasters who want to stand out: why not foster the privilege we have to look within and use our creative power to envision the world as we desire it to be? Some have been and more are now doing this as a regular activity of engagement with their subscribers. However you practice this rite and this right, you automatically contribute to the growing desire of seekers to dissolve the thread of fear.
And then, have a life. Be with people in person, not by device, to have fun. Laughter with others is a means to change the electrical field, to recharge that field and, by it, replenish the body-brain. Famed practitioner of white magic, Dion Fortune, taught that when under ‘attack’ to go to a funny movie. It throws the energy off. Takes you off the energetic ‘radar’ so to speak.
The point is balance. Because too much of even a good thing is, well, too-much.
When to do the ‘Mental Tap-Dance’ and when to change the routine
Something we might ask ourselves about this ages-old habit of outer-based spirituality: How long do we want to keep up the mental tap-dance between extremes? On the one hand, we profess to believe in Light yet, on the other, we feel we must ever keep our sights on darkness lest it come too near.
How to do both takes elegance. It takes diligence. Especially if our aim is to root errant belief out of the subconscious that comes from an incomplete knowing of why we choose to do this dance at all.
Oh that delightful space of mind, the faithful subconscious. We can say whatever we like and let it take our conscious thought in obedience and carry it through into our reality. Or we can choose deliberately how to nourish it. “Use the force (for good), Luke.”
The enlightenment path is not easy, yet can be embraced with confidence
The true path isn’t one that ignores the facts of this realm, but rather sees them as part of the material-plane illusion. All the while we do so, we hold more steadfastly to the Truth. That this world is meant to – and can bring about – Good. Highest Good, for all. Beginning right where we are.
How? Basics. Like choosing food, water and air for the consciousness that is as pure as the food we might choose for the body. What you take in, you encounter and embody. If you believe in anything, then it is real. Because the pure crystal stream of Infinity’s Light coming into your consciousness is unqualified energy. Ready for the stamp of your thought, feeling and word.
If you desire something higher, than raise your energy and consciousness higher
That last explanation of how energy becomes matter is why I do not subscribe to, nor do I advise, the belief in Black Magicians. Might they exist? Do I (or you) wish to engage them? It is our individual choice. I believe this is the ultimate test, the subtle one. And the answer to passing this, our most important initiation in matter, just might be found in what the Buddha taught: to hold no opinion.
Unless a person has the true mastery to look at maya without fearing then feeding it, my advice might be this. To take a break from your teaching or broadcasting (if you do) when you realize (or a good friend points out) that there’s an over-focus on darkness, on danger, on psychic or physical attack. Why? Because you – from the moment you put on the mantle of teacher, whether or not you have a calling to it – have an energetic responsibility for the spiritual neophyte. Would you wish to have them learn from you to focus outward for the next ‘attack’ instead of building a solid foundation of Light within?
And a word, if I may be so bold, to those of us who fancy ourselves as fellow ‘adepts’
Do you wish to do the same as the teacher or channel broadcaster? Dare you so without taking the enormous time and responsibility to think it out before you speak of mysteries that another may not be ready to face? If they are facing them, then would you not wish to think and pray how best to speak of these things?
How easy is our ministry when we use the amazing power we have to first hold ourselves and then that person we meet in Light. Extraordinary Light. Look at our motive – does our ego want to be well-thought of, as ‘good,’ or learned, as experienced? Or does our heart move us to help? When of the heart, then let us gently help them through what they face. If not of the heart, we can seek guidance on how to really live from that field.
Good thing to remember: we’re all neophytes, or else we’d be evident masters
All of us can benefit from even a basic refresher as I offer, no matter the “years on the path.” Time doesn’t speak as loudly as consciousness gained does. If truly of the highest, so much the better. If we be a spokesperson for the mystery school, or humble proponent, we are known on more than one realm. More. By more than we know.
Energy demonstrates itself in this exact moment. Being ‘good’ is not proof of mastery any more than being blunt or going way too deep before someone is ready. But humility and wisdom to use whatever gift we have, or have earned, when for the good of another and all concerned is its own reward.
I also want to speak of ‘curses’
Oh, I’ve had them directed at me and to my face. Even my shaft of the Mother’s White Fire was pierced through. In one case, the raging heat wave and work of moving had already spent my personal reserves. Yet I knew that if I could muster enough teaching to hold to while I recharged, that the curse could not–so it did not–register. It has no power. I could, however, have crumbled and bowed before it. Anything can be our idol. We’re hardwired somehow to do so, if we choose. We’re wired better for what happens when we don’t choose that route.
And I had a new challenge. To forgive the person for coming, uninvited, and at such an inopportune time to spew his ‘two minutes of hate.” At me. Directly. I’ve forgiven, yet not forgotten, because I knew long before then that this plane is a school room. Where all can be a test of how we choose to respond. And perhaps even this glimpse into my messy life, at that young age, might serve to inspire another to clean up their own. At any age.
All here is belief, too
Good thoughts don’t necessarily trump deep-seated belief. Belief in a curse creates a pattern of consciousness that is the energetic equivalent. Or attracts more like it. It may seem hard but it’s possible to pull that weed of thought all the way out from the tip of its root. In the case I spotlighted, above, I held just that thought. That’s why the curse did not stay. It may have pierced and hurt temporarily. But I shored up both my physical and spiritual reserves and dissolved its would-be tentacle into the nothingness from whence it came. And I poured love on the wounds of the individual driven to go to this extreme.
Of course, I was careful thereafter. I learned to pick up on the cues before they snowballed. I have to say it took time. You could say I was a recovering ‘Pollyanna’. But never bitter. And kept my sense of humor. It’s the only way. That, and knowing that being bit once is enough to keep one’s hand from straying back into the beast’s cage.
Good is cumulative, and adds to the inevitable, budding Golden Age
To thrive in today’s emerging pause, we must do one thing. The pause I speak of is this immense moment of our collective feet passing ever so slowly yet irrevocably over the threshold into a truly Golden Age. To thrive while the appearance of darkness would belie the Light, we must develop discernment. Spiritual, mental, emotional and, yes, physical. The body knows, if we would but stop to listen.
This is a time when so many among us are teachers. Either intentionally or not. And so few of us are willing (at least not often enough) to learn first from the Master within.
To aid you to see this as a joyous and momentous point in eternity, I offer Mary Baker Eddy’s statement, below. One to which I still cling even years after first coming across her teaching. One that best describes how I strive to live from and emanate as my prayer. Because, more than anything, I love this jewel of a planet and all the lovely beings playing at the game of life, as much as I love the Life, our Creator, that makes it all possible:
Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort. And not only yourselves are safe, but all whom your thoughts rest upon are thereby benefited.
My thoughts are, ever so, on you. Be blessed and well.
Your friend on the Path,
Rev. Donna Ferri
